Vor ungefähr einem Jahr kam Bene, ein Fotograf, in den Laden um bei der Umsetzung eines Baums mitzuhelfen. Wir kamen ins Gespräch und er lieh sich für eine Foto-Serie ein Exemplar der Brunhild-Serie, Teil von Broken Armour, aus.

Einige Zeit später erzählte er mir von einem Freund, Leif, der ein ambitioniertes Magazin-Projekt startet – das Grau Magazin und könnte da seine Fotos veröffentlichen. Ich stimmte zu und freute mich als wieder eine Zeit später Leif vorbeikam mit ersten Exemplaren, erhältlich hier im Laden.

Grau Magazin

“Anders als die trist standardisierten Assoziationen zum Farbton ‘grau’ ist das Grau Magazin alles andere als nur eine melancholische Stimmung oder ein alternder Haaransatz. Grau ist jung, bunt und ambitioniert. Angefangen als einfache Plattform für Freunde und Bekannte, ist Grau mittlerweile ein internationales, in Berlin ansässiges Kunstmagazin in der Aufbauphase, mit Künstlern aus der Schweiz, Dänemark, Bulgarien und Ungarn. Informative Texte und einladende Anekdoten führen dich durch eine noch unbekannte Sphäre der Kunstszene. Aus dem Rohbau des Magazins möchten wir ein Hochhaus mit Ausblick für Künstler schaffen. Das Grau Magazin ist der bunte Kontrahent zum tristen Beton-Dschungel der Hauptstadt.”

About a year ago, Bene, a photographer, came into the store to help with the realization of a tree. We got talking and he borrowed a piece of the Brunhild series, part of Broken Armour, for a photo series.

Some time later, he told me about a friend, Leif, who was starting an ambitious magazine project – Grau Magazine, where he could publish his photos. I agreed and was delighted when Leif came by again a while later with the first copies, available here in the studio.

“Unlike the dreary standardized associations with the color ‘grey’, Grau Magazin is anything but a melancholy mood or an aging hairline. Grau is young, colorful and ambitious. Starting out as a simple platform for friends and acquaintances, Grau is now an international, Berlin-based art magazine in the start-up phase, with artists from Switzerland, Denmark, Bulgaria and Hungary. Informative texts and inviting anecdotes guide you through a still unknown sphere of the art scene. From the shell of the magazine we want to create a skyscraper with a view for artists. Grau Magazin is the colorful counterpart to the dreary concrete jungle of the capital.”
